NO. 1 VARY FLEX EPOXY, TYPE HV
features:

  • Low dielectric constant 2.5 - 2.8; (precise figure varies depending on processing and cure). 25 C, 36 hour cure

  • Negligible outgassing Total weight loss 0.64%, total volatile accumulation 0.01%, per JSC #08962.

  • No VOC

  • Minimum hazard to handlers Though all epoxy systems should be handled with care, the VARY FLEX system is among the least hazardous possible. It is not a hazardous material per DOT and IATA.

  • Design flexibility VARY FLEX HV is also used as a general-purpose potting, encapsulating, and staking material in microwave devices. Variations in mix ratio affect the cured hardness of the material (thus, "Vary Flex").

As of the year 2001, NO. 1 VARY FLEX HV was being used in the US, Canada, Mexico, Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Ireland, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, China, and Australia. Roughly seventy companies are active clients.

The NO. 1 VARY FLEX HV system is comprised of two parts:

1) NO. 1 VARY FLEX EPOXY RESIN, TYPE HV. The standard color is royal blue. It can be supplied without coloring, as a translucent white. Supplied in pint and quart cans.

2) NO. 1 VARY FLEX HARDENER, TYPE HV, is amber in color. Supplied in pint and quart cans.

The two materials are sold separately rather than as a "kit," since different customers use differing mix ratios. For connector applications, the standard ratio would be 2 parts resin to 1 part hardener, by volume (2-1/2 to 1 by weight).
